CIIE Annual Retreat again a success

The Centre for Immunity, Infection and Evolution annual Retreat was held on June 6-7th 2016 at the Dunkeld House Hotel.

We were delighted to welcome Professor Jim Kaufman (University of Cambridge) and Professor Chris Thompson (University of Manchester) who gave fascinating presentations on the evolution of the immune system, and game theory and investment strategies in slime mold development. A further highlight was the series of presentations from our CIIE fellows who gave updates on their interdisciplinary work focused on bacterial community structures (Luke McNally), and Mosquito circadian rhythms (Sam Rund). Our new CIIE fellow, Deirdre McLean also joined us from Dublin, and presented her work on ecological hierarchies.  As usual, the weather was fantastic, with break out times devoted to cycling, clay pigeon shooting or simply soaking up the sun.
